2 Wulingyuan State Park
Located in Hunan Province, Wulingyuan was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992. The park is known for its towering sandstone pillars--more than 3,000 in all--that served as the inspiration for the floating rocks in the movie Avatar. The park also has a network of underground caves, such as the famous Yellow Dragon Cave. This park is perfect for any level of hiking, as well as for more adventurous activities such as mountain climbing and river rafting.
